Introducing rightsDROP - Simplifying the Way the Music Industry Collects and Delivers Data

At rightsHUB, our goal has always been to make the complex world of music data and asset management simpler, faster, and more transparent. Over the past few years, we’ve built tools that empower labels, publishers, and catalogue owners to gain full control over their rights workflows - from contracts to distribution, all in one place.

But there has always been one recurring challenge shared by almost every client we spoke with: the difficulty of collecting accurate metadata and assets from multiple sources.

Artists, writers, and managers all send files through endless emails, links, or spreadsheets. Labels and publishers spend hours chasing missing data, delaying releases and registrations.

That’s why we created something new - built directly from those conversations and designed for real-world label operations: rightsDROP.

Press Release: rightsHUB Launches rightsDROP

rightsHUB unveils tool to transform data ingestion process, signs Artist Theory alongside deal renewals with Believe, Defected and others

• New tool, rightsDROP, allows labels and publishers to optimise collection of metadata and resources via single point of entry or releases

• rightsHUB now provides a fully end-to-end solution to streamline flow of rights data and assets

• Artist Theory (Sam Ryder, H.LLS, and Emily Jeffri) signing follows deal renewals with Believe, Sentric, Defected, The Circuit Group and Sahara Music Group

21 October - rightsHUB, the industry-leading music rights data and asset management platform, has unveiled its latest feature for labels and publishers, rightsDROP.

Available to all rightsHUB clients, rightsDROP will enable labels and publishers to create and issue fully customisable templates for artists, writers and managers to submit metadata and assets for new releases. By cutting out needless repeat and simplifying communications, rightsDROP solves one of the greatest sticking points in clients’ day-to-day operations and offers an efficient, streamlined means of gathering data and resources.

With the addition of rightsDROP, rightsHUB now provides a totally end-to-end solution for rightsholders to manage the flow of rights data and assets from collection to delivery. It maintains a single point of data entry and provides a central location for storing releases, assets and contract data – allowing clients to save time, cut down on manual errors, and facilitate remote collaboration.

rightsHUB VP of Product & Client Relations Oscar Tremain said: “rightsHUB exists to make the lives of rightsholders as easy as possible. As part of this, we always take the time to ask our labels and publishers what remains a headache or roadblock within their operations. Time and time again we received the feedback that their teams are bogged down with chasing up artists and managers for pieces of data and content files across multiple channels, with no set process between all parties.

rightsDROP finally addresses a common industry-wide issue and not only gives full control back to the rightsholders to ensure clean, consistent data flows for new releases, tracks and works, but also provides artists, writers and managers with a clear-cut and simplified way of submitting their music and data.”

Will Dowler, Production Manager at Defected Records, added: “One of the biggest issues we face is the gathering of data and assets from artists, managers and writers, slowing down release activity and registrations… We explained the issue to rightsHUB and they have built a solution that’s going to massively help with this. rightsHUB and now rightsDROP really is going to make our whole business process so much easier.”

rightsHUB has meanwhile signed a new deal with Artist Theory, the independent label launched last year by former Parlophone execs Nick Burgess and Jack Melhuish, with a roster including Sam Ryder, H.LLS, and Emily Jeffri. In recent months rightsHUB has additionally extended its partnerships with Believe, Sentric, The Circuit Group, Sahara Music Group, and Defected Records.

They are part of a wider network of rightsHUB clients that includes Altra Moda, Armada, Axtone, Believe, Cloud 9 Music, Crucast, CTM, Distiller Music Group, DMY, Fool’s Gold Records, Future Classic, Hospital Records, Ignition Records, Mobilee Records, Phoenix Music International, OCP, Proper Music Distribution, Revolver, Training Tunes, TMRW Music, Unified Music Group and others.

rightsHUB CEO Lee Morrison said: “I am really happy that labels like Artist Theory have chosen to join our already amazing client base and it’s by working with them and building out these tools that this happens.”

Jack Melhuish, co-founder of Artist Theory, commented: “We were looking for a solution that could help us in giving the new business infrastructure and would help us scale, we came across rightsHUB and it fits the bill perfectly, the team have been a pleasure to work with since we came onboard…”

Simon Birkumshaw, Director of Operations, Label Services at The Circuit Group, added: “rightsHUB has been a massive part of the way we have grown and developed our business in Label Services, giving us transparency, connectivity and direct access to all of our metadata & files - all in one place. The ability to directly source all of our new release data and have it auto populate rightsHUB looks to be a game changer for us.”
